 It's a tutorial on how to create minimalistic backgrounds in 3D Studio Max with some basic shadowing techniques using Mental Ray.If you want to learn more about 3D Studio Max, I highly recommend the following websites: [link] and [link] . Little edit 09-10-2008: It doesn't matter where you place the skylight. As shown in this tutorial I've place mine higher in the scene, this is due to the fact that I like it to be out of the way. that's all, it has no effect on the outcome of the render whatsoever. Glad you liked it! np. I haven't been able to figure out the lighting and stuff until now.
Every other tut I find just says something like "put in lights" or "make this shape here" but they never tell you how. Now I know how I know exactly what you mean, took me ages to find out why the skylight didn't work (IE black screen or faulty shadows) the way I wanted it to
